Two girls, two bikes and a whole lot of love
Two girls, two bikes and a whole lot of love.
Here we roll- two girls, two bikes and a whole lot of love- taking on the mountains, valleys and staggering coastline across Mediterranean Europe. Sharing up the space of love and peace and living a life from the heart sounds like a pretty cool idea, right? As ideas morph their way into form, this little idea is rocking our worlds.
Although this body of mine was probably not that prepared for this adventure, my hope for my memory cells to kick in from a time when I was fitter was certainly there. As beliefs become reality, hardcore chafe, heavy breathing, sucking oxygen deep, this body of mine never ceases to amaze me, finding its rhythm without any force. With Jessica’s enthusiasm and spirit, we are evolving to the beat of our hearts and it is proving to be a force far greater than one that could have been imagined before we set out.
With the tag lines painted on our shirts ‘peace is power’, ‘love this life’, and ‘revolve for peace’, we are greeted with open arms from strangers, welcomed into homes to share the family meal, receive smiles from toothless new found friends, peace signs from people riding donkeys and horn hooting from those offering support. We have been interviewed by The Balkans largest news network, rescued by a priest and his family, climbed incredible mountains and have cried tears of gratitude. We have shared croissants with families off the streets, met Albanians leading rap artist and seen, sensed and experienced a whole lot of magic in between. Both visible to the eyes, but most often that which can only be felt.
As adaptability is a pretty cool key to own, we find ourselves keying in to that one often. As us humans still can be consumed by our past, we met one in particular who is drowning in his. A man who served the foreign legion, he is now living in society as though he is still there. We are confronted with words of contempt and anger, we are abused and witnesses to a man who suffers. As the craziness of his past eats his inner world and leaves a trail of destruction in his outer world, my heart opens. There is no time to wait to stop the craziness. War is the destruction of buildings, families and lives. Our inner war is just projecting that. Although he was a confronting person, choosing my action with all of my mind is now my power. Once upon a time I would have been offended by his display of hate, but now I see otherwise. I am eternally grateful for that awareness.
As each little peddle of revolution takes us to an experience beyond the peddle before, we are exposed to the power of an open heart. We become cognisant of the walls that are created by stories, movies and media which too often ignite our fears to see beyond them. Jess and I are inspired by people who care about people and those who live with open arms and are supportive of a vision that could seem impossible in the times that are present to us today. So no matter how big, small, or even non-sensical an idea looks or seems, every little bit of creativity supports the very essence of who we are to shine and that is an idea worth sharing. Peace is our power.
