PEACE IS THE POWER OF THE PEOPLE

Revolve for peace. What an idea? Where does something like that come from? How can it even be discussed by a girl that has never experienced a space of war? Who and what does this little human from down under know, coming from a place where food is ample, the sun shines, death is not on my front door and I get to revolve these little peddles to the pavement and experience worlds that I had only ever imagined or seen on a television screen? What makes this idea worth anything?

We have taken these wheels of revolution over cobble stone streets and past castles, where aged steeples open up to the empty skies, like candles on a birthday cake. We have cycled through deep valleys of the Appeninos and the Pyreneese. We have watched cliff faces plummet into seas and seen sand morph from rocks to beaches. There have been nine countries of exploration, where saints are now cities and artists of our past have left their mark with a statue, picture or a building. We have danced with strangers of many languages, moving our bodies, hands and eyebrows (in ways that a contortionist would be proud of) just to be understood. We have seen skies that reflect the pastels on the buildings, like a candy jar not only too tempting to a child, and with each of these moments I have been swallowed up by the flavours of scenes, people and tastes that have had the power to consume me.

So what does war have to do with with all of these things I have listed above? Absolutely nothing to do with it, but peace has everything. This perception of peace will always occur when we open up to the elements of ourselves that we can sometimes find confronting and treat our perceptions of ‘not good enough’ with acceptance. This occurs when we smile at the silly things we have done that we are ashamed of,  and nurture ourselves with love and compassion. The availability to do the same with every circumstance, including those which may not be conventionally tagged as peaceful.  Our internal is the dance we have with our external and there is the freedom, peace and harmony in the world that we as individuals can create.

With the intention of sharing the power of peace, I am limited only by the words that bound them. With every peddle of revolution in this evolution of my time, I am exposed to the heart that goes beyond any of those words. You see, I have the privilege to be surrounded by individuals that inspire me. We could assume that with my adoration of super heroes, there might be the need for qualities that we believe to be only for sci fi, myths or fables. However,  the beauty of our true essence doesn’t need to fly, climb mountains, build castles or even live in one. Our superhuman qualities and essence comes in far simpler ways. It is the fathers giving of his life to better his child, a brothers soft words of assurance that ‘all is ok,’ or a 90 year old, who shares his wisdom of love. It is shown in Jessica’s divine diaries, my sons songs or a dinner created by my mother. These superheroes of life show humanity enacting their true nature, in all colour, form and vibrancy, wrapped up in a package of story, music, compassion, gestures and words.

Whether it be the curiosity, strength or courage shown to me by beautiful Jessica, the smile from a stranger or the flower that searches it’s way to the sun, I can only breath deeply in awe of the awe makers that surround me, in all it’s simplicity and beauty. I breath deeply, in the peace that exists in me, in every moment and know with all that I am, that this not unique to me, it is present and alive in all of us. I breath deeply at the knowing that all that I am is not separate to anything that I see. I take a deep breath in being responsible for the ability I have in responding with peace. This has exposed the power of such an experience, to be free of the prison that can exist without being in one, the war within, without lifting a gun, or the fight of the self that limits our very experience of the world we live and breath.

It has been a powerful learning and awareness for myself: that when I take responsibility for my own peace, I then have the ability to respond with peace. This is humanity without the insanity. It’s where ultimate freedom, flow and force are exposed to show our true nature of love, beauty and creativity. Peace is the power of the people. It doesn’t have to wait for a government, institution or corporation to make happen. It’s ours to own. So with every peddle our little legs pumped over mountains with our bikes, Phantom and Possible, we share a voice of full expression, the possibility of all of us being aware of what already exists and seeing peace as our power in this lifetime. A voice of humanity without the insanity, dancing to the beat of all hearts in one heart. ‘Peace is power’ and ‘love this life’ are not just slogans worn on our shirts, they are embodied by the two wearing them. To evolve our bodies, minds and hearts to such awareness is our personal freedom and isn’t just a utopian fantasy. It’s a tangible reality for all of humanity to experience.

Now that’s an idea worth everything and most definitely worth sharing. ‘Peace is our power’.
